Tree Removal on Private Property

The Town of Paradise and Butte County required private property owners to remove Hazard Trees on private property that are so fire damaged by the Camp Fire they were a threat to fall into public and eligible private roads traveled by the public. The Town and County worked with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services  (CalOES), and other federal and State partners on a Government Hazard Tree Removal Program (Government Program) to identify and remove Hazard Trees on private property that posed a threat to fall into public and eligible private roads traveled by the public. The Government Program is complete.

The Government Program was available at no out-of-pocket cost to property owners who completed and signed a Tree Right-of-Entry (ROE) form to allow access to their private property for the removal of Hazard Trees. The County will collect insurance proceeds for Hazard ree removal from insurance companies or property owners to prevent a duplication of benefit. The County estimates this collection will begin in late 2022.
