Camp Fire Evacuees Asked to Resume Care of Animals Sheltering in Place Once Evacuation Orders Lifted

Posted on November 30, 2018

Animal rescue field groups from Butte County Animal Control (BCAC) and North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG) have been providing feed and care to animals sheltering in place within the fire affected areas. These areas are still under evacuation orders. Once evacuation orders are lifted, owners returning to the area will be asked to resume care of their animals.

A detailed feed and care schedule of animals sheltering in place will be provided to owners once they are able to return home. If evacuees decide not to stay in their homes or intend to leave the area they will need to take their animals with them. Evacuees are asked to make fostering or boarding arrangements outside the existing Butte County animal disaster shelters. These temporary shelters are only for animals during active evacuation orders.

Temporary fostering and boarding resources for Camp Fire animals may be found by searching the www.campfirerescuedanimals.com resource page or by searching on Facebook. Many Facebook groups have been established to connect people who need a temporary foster home for their animals with people who are willing and able to serve as foster caregivers.
