We understand this is a very difficult time for survivors of the fire, especially if your home has been destroyed. It is especially important to contact the shelter if your home has been destroyed so we can help you identify a longer-term solution and transition your animals to a more comfortable location. We know pet owners want the best for their animals. Your animals will experience better emotional health and greater physical comfort once they are transitioned out of the shelter. Once evacuation orders are lifted, animals need to be picked-up or transitioned out of these shelters.
If you are unable to pick-up your animals, please contact the shelter so we can help you identify a longer term solution, which may include:
- Friends or Family who can temporarily foster your animals.
- Community members or organizations who can temporarily foster your animals.
- A Facebook Groups has been established to connect people who need temporary foster homes for animals with people who are willing and able to serve as foster caregivers. This group is called Camp Fire Foster Animal Connection (link text to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/campfirefosteranimalconnection/)
In the event that you make the difficult decision to surrender your animal, please contact the shelter and let us know. We will facilitate the adoptions process for you. Please note, no animals will be adopted out of a shelter until every owner has had a chance to claim their animal.
