Residents and Business Owners  Advised to Begin Preparations Prior to Re-Entry

Posted on December 1, 2018

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office and Paradise Police Department are working to reduce risks for home and business owners when returning to their property. Multiple local, state and federal agencies, contractors and utility providers are contributing to these efforts.

The Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Paradise Police Department is establishing an orderly re-entry process controlled by entry points to ensure that only residents and property owners are allowed initial access. A form of identification (ID) is required to gain access, such as a driver’s license or state ID card, passport, utility bill and valid photo ID, or consular ID.

Re-entry will be phased and based on established evacuation zones which can be identified on the map which is accessible at buttecountyrecovers.org/evacuation-map. Residents can register for the County’s emergency mass notification system to receive updates when they are able to access their property. In addition, these social media channels will be updated as evacuation zones are released:

Upon re-entry, property owners will encounter dangerous conditions and be exposed to hazardous materials. Butte County Environmental Health will provide re-entry health and safety kits at re-entry checkpoints. Health and safety precautions for re-entry can be reviewed in advance at buttecountyrecovers.org/re-entry.

Fire survivors can benefit from resources provided at buttecountyrecovers.org/wellness to address the mental and emotional issue that may surface after a disaster.

Updates will be provided at press conferences on Monday, December 3, and Wednesday, December 5, at 6 p.m. These will be streamed live and a link can be found on the Sheriff Department’s and Butte County’s social media sites.
